| Hello. US President Donald Trump has promised Americans big returns from his new tariffs regime. As his policies continue to shift, BBC Verify examines the facts behind his claims. TOP OF THE AGENDA | Is the US making $2bn a day from tariffs? |

| | Trump says his tariffs are necessary to restore America's manufacturing base. Credit: EPA-EFE/Rex/Shutterstock | President Trump has hit back at China's retaliatory tariffs, increasing the tax on goods imported from the country to 125%. He also announced a 90-day "pause" on higher tariffs against other countries, instead charging a "baseline" rate of 10%. Follow our live page for the latest updates. Trump has been justifying the sweeping tariffs with a series of claims about how much the US is making from them and how the country is the victim of "unfair trade". But as BBC Verify finds, some of Trump's claims on trade are unsubstantiated or even false. |

| King Charles makes history in Italy | | The King called Italy a "country dear to my heart". Credit: Reuters | King Charles became the first British monarch to address the Italian parliament on Wednesday. Queen Camilla is accompanying her husband on the state visit to Italy, which coincides with their 20th wedding anniversary. |

|
| | The King's speech to Italy's lawmakers, in their ornately-decorated chamber in the Palazzo Montecitorio, was a rallying call to defend shared values and the need to reinforce the military partnership between the UK and Italy. "We are both European countries," he said, standing in front of the Italian and European Union flags.
The King and Queen have been given a warm reception on their trip to Italy. There were calls of "Carlo" - Italian for Charles - from crowds waiting to see the royal visitors. Earlier in the day, the Queen had been given a margherita pizza on a visit to a school in Rome in honour of her wedding anniversary. The couple also met Pope Francis on Wednesday afternoon for a private meeting at the Vatican that lasted 20 minutes. |
