If you were a woman working in the Public Service in the 1960s you could have expected to be stripped of your permanent work status in the event you were married. On this day in 1966, The Canberra Times was reporting on the big news this rule could be changed. Amendments to the Public Service Act would mean that women public servants would no longer lose permanent employee status when getting married.
