To marke the release of Judas and the Black Messiah, about assassinated Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, I rounded up some great documentaries about the Panthers.Metrograph is streaming several restored shorts from influential Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambéty, along with a documentary about his process. Poulomi Das highlights Swipe, a dystopian animated short about social media in Pakistan.The collage documentary Filmfarsi, a look at a lost era of Iranian cinema, is now available to stream via Projectr.
