Every roll of film has a ticking clock! Using film close to its expiry date will not give your photos any unexpected effects – unless it’s our color-shifting LomoChrome family of course! Properly stored film stays fresh and fabulous for one to three years beyond its expiry date! Still, over time all film will gradually deteriorate, losing light sensitivity and showing more grain and less contrast. But that won’t stop the experimentation! Still intrigued? Head to our Lomo School to find out even more about what to expect when shooting expired film. |

OK, you’ve got the hang of expiry dates. But there are still numbers everywhere and you’re not sure if you need a calculator or a magic wand. Fear not! It’s really simple. First off, the number that follows the film name. Usually 100, 200, 400 or 800 – although some of ours go as low as 8…This is the ISO number and the lower it is, the more light you’ll need to shoot your film. Then we have 35 mm, 120 or 110. This is the size of the film and the camera format required to use it. To help you out, we’ve put together a handy comparison guide in our Magazine. | |
