DID YOU KNOW? The Original owner of Rushton was Sir William Tresham who was the Sherriff of Northamptonshire. He bought the land that includes the village of Rushton St Peter in 1438. He started to build a large family home that was to become Rushton Hall. Before it was complete he was heading home to Sywell from Rushton with his manservant when they were set upon by Lord Greys men. Sir William was run through with a lance and left for dead. His son Thomas was not far behind and found his father lying on the road. They managed to get Sir William home but unfortunately he died soon after. |
