Telecommunications consumer interest group ACCAN is pressuring Optus and Vodafone to follow Telstra and ban third party mobile subscriptions. Telstra announced this morning that it will ban third party charges from 3 December.

A Victorian Government decision on home-schooling, which allows school principals to decide, within 28 days, whether a child should be allowed to be tutored at home, could well end up having ramifications for the tech sector.

The police force in New York is being forced to junk the 36,000 Windows smartphones distributed to the force over the last two years because they are obsolete and cannot be upgraded. The junked Windows phones will be replaced with iPhones. Smart move?

Social media behemoth Facebook has admitted that it struggles to control the avalanche of hate speech, spam and fraud on its two billion accounts, turning off more than a million accounts every day.

Data breaches tend to result in a fall in company share prices when the news leaks, often by as much as 5%, the identity access management company Centrify claims.
