Today the 15th edition of the Foam Talent Call opens for submissions and will run until 1st June 2021. Foam is proud to announce the 15th annual Talent Call by Foam Magazine: a search for exceptionally talented photographers between 18 and 40 years, from all across the world. The public call is open until 1 June 2021 for artists to submit their work. Being selected as a Foam Talent puts artists in the spotlight of the international photography industry. The programme offers a number of career-building opportunities, including publication in Foam Magazine's annual Talent issue, participation in (online) programmes and events, as well as the potential to be added to the prestigious Art Collection Deutsche Börse. Foam Talent aims at showcasing and highlighting the future of the contemporary photography world, kick-starting careers of emerging artists worldwide. Pandemic year, widened criteria The past pandemic year forced all of us to reflect, evaluate and adapt our activities to the new situation. For Foam this resulted in some changes to the criteria of the Talent Call, and the corresponding programme which aims to accommodate rising artists. Since 2007 the annual Talent Call is the core step in Foam’s ongoing commitment to scout, present and support new generations of talented image-makers worldwide. The Talent Call, and the Foam Magazine Talent issue, are Foam’s own yearly look on the ever-growing photographic community. The Talent Call is age based, because with every year Foam strives to look at how specific generational segments of image-makers are engaging with the medium, with the ongoing conversations in the photographic community and with their peers. This year the call is specifically addressed to the age group from 18 to 40 years old, widening the age segment in an attempt to compensate the gender gap affecting our communities. On top of this, Foam is also lowering the entry fee to € 25 with the intention of widening the possibility of its access. Kick-starter The editors of Foam Magazine are curious to see new work from all around the world, looking for image-makers who have developed their voice, but haven’t had major publishing deals, exhibitions or retrospectives yet. Foam’s Talent Programme is developed to be a starting point in the artist’s career, rather than an arrival moment. Over the years the Talent ‘stamp’ has been built by an ever-growing reputation amongst professionals and proved to be a real career kick-starter. Former Talents are Delali Ayivi, Hajar Benjida, Sofia Borges, Adji Dieye, Philip Montgomery and many more.
