Apparently, Las Vegans had already begun dumping their pets at the local shelter in absurdly high numbers, either out of fear of catching the virus from them or because of job loss and looming financial insecurity. Our rescue, Hearts Alive Village, had jumped into action. Our first step was to clear out our adoption center, placing all our available dogs into foster homes so we could open up space for the animals being newly surrendered. I had told our founder, Christy, that while I never foster due to my hectic schedule, I'd be happy to take in a pup during quarantine (assuming it got along with my dog Akasha). (Keep reading) |
