Credit must go to Capital Sigma on Twitter for the hilarious twist of force majeure into force manure - I can't take the credit for that! Get all the manure (and some good news) in Ghost Bites>>> Did you miss any of the recent features? There's been a lot to enjoy in the past couple of days in Ghost Mail. Here's a quick overview in case you missed something: Greg Salter wrote a popular piece about how rhodium saved our economy in the pandemicChris Gilmour highlighted the strength of the dollar and the weakness in Europe and the UK - the troubles in the UK didn't happen overnightGhost Grads Kayla Soni and Kreeti Panday looked at the education sector on the JSE (Curro / Stadio / ADvTECH)On Unlock the Stock, Growthpoint joined us to give a presentation on the business and answer numerous questions A subdued day in the marketWith the US out of the market, the rand traded in a subdued manner. The rand was close to the R18.00 level after opening the day at R18.18. Before we get too excited, there's a lot of data in the market this week that could give the dollar fresh momentum. There is also renewed fear of the war escalating in Ukraine, which would hurt risky assets. We can't be sure about the war. We can be sure about the release of data, with the US Fed minutes due on Wednesday and the US inflation number due on Thursday (with an expectation of 8.1%). A higher-than-expected print would likely take the probability of a 75 basis points hike in November to over 90%.
