| Hello. A school shooting in Austria has left 10 victims dead. The gunman is thought to be a former student who didn't finish school, and who took his own life following the attack, authorities say. From Chile, we report on the mothers searching for their babies who were forcibly taken under the Pinochet regime. And finally, could this be one of the greatest ever catches in baseball history? One commentator certainly thought so. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Death toll in Austria school shooting rises to 10 after victim dies in hospital |
|
| | The shooting in Austria's second-largest city took place around 10am local time. Credit: Reuters | A former pupil killed 10 people in a shooting at a secondary school in the Austrian city of Graz, before taking his own life, police have said. The ex-student killed six females and three males at Dreierschützengasse high school, with another female victim later dying in hospital. Eleven others were injured. Video from inside the school captures the sound of gunshots, and pupils run for the exit as armed police line corridors. The suspected gunman has not yet been named and his motives are under investigation, but officials say he was 21, did not finish school and used two legal firearms in the attack. Austria's chancellor has called the incident a national tragedy and declared three days of mourning. |

| | The atmosphere in the sitting room is tense. After a few technical issues the video call finally works. When Maria Elena and her children see Emma, everything changes. “She’s so beautiful - she looks just like my cousin!” she exclaims. Everyone’s crying - including Maria Elena’s son Vladimir, who was initially sceptical. “Poor her, she doesn’t have a proper family – she needs us,” he says in a muffled voice.
The family start making plans. They’re convinced that Emma IS related to them and they want to make up for lost time. They immediately invite Emma to come and visit them and she happily agrees. “At first I was so angry and just wanted justice for my mother,” Alejandra tells me. “I can’t believe that people are so cruel they’re capable of doing something like this.” In the meantime, Alejandra tells me, her emotions have shifted from anger to include love. “I want to meet my sister and get to know her.” |
