Initially a high school biology teacher, he changed paths following the Six-Day War and studied Middle East history, specializing in Iraq. Following Saddam’s 1980 invasion of Iran Mr. Baram worked the Iraq Desk for Israeli military intelligence. (It is said no two camels can meet in Iraq without his knowledge.) He obtained his B.A., M.A., and PhD from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
