| Friend, I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of talking with a broad range of people over the past 27 years, few more interesting or important than Forum’s listeners. When you tune in, you connect with our community, hear from luminaries and can ask your burning questions. In the last few months our ability to connect people and share information has become more important than ever before. Questions about the coronavirus have been rolling in, and our show has pivoted in order to be able to address them all. In late March we focused the second hour of Forum entirely on the pandemic. Through our newly-launched statewide collaborative newsroom, we’re able to offer this special edition of Forum to public radio stations across California. The Forum team and I are thrilled to be able to hear from listeners around the state and provide them with the information they need to stay safe and healthy. While much of the disruption to our lives has been unwelcome, I hope you’ve found the new range and reach of Forum to be helpful. We’re also bringing you what we hope is a positive change — we are shortening our spring radio pledge drive dramatically. We realized the need to continue broadcasting with significantly fewer interruptions is vital at this time. Keeping you informed is why we’re here, but it takes funding to keep us on the air. Craig Newmark Philanthropies has generously offered to match all donations up to $100,000 to help make our very short pledge drive possible. Having a way to connect with one another even while we are apart is essential, and KQED is committed to helping to foster that connection. Please help ensure that everyone has access to community-based journalism by making a donation to KQED now. Thank you for your continued support of both KQED and Forum, | Sincerely, | | Michael Krasny KQED Contributor and Host of Forum |
