Four Ways to Make Christmas in the Kitchen Better!
Let the kids help. I have fond memories of making holiday cookies with my mother. We cut out cookies, frosted them and then sprinkles them with goodies. And we ate a whole bunch. Today, you can also paint cookies. The cookies shown here were painted with food color gels, one drop of color for two drops of water and painted with a watercolor brush. The detail work was done with a toothpick. (Don't worry--the colors will wash out in the laundry.)
It's not too early to buy your holiday ham (check the best buy date) and the selection will be better.
Get your potatoes ready to bake the day before. Add the toppings just before baking.
You can assemble baked French toast up to five days in advance and stick it in the oven Christmas morning!
