voornaam — Prior to the pandemic, cleaning was mostly about appearance with some facilities placing a higher value on appearance than others. Today a clean facility is not just about appearance but also about hygiene to help reduce the spread of infection. With changing expectations around hygiene, there is a need for guidance on how institutions can instill confidence to their occupants and customers that their facilities are safe through a combination of cleaning & disinfecting surfaces and the availability of hand hygiene products and systems.

There is a misconception that commonly touched surfaces are the points of highest risk. However, it is the behavior of people touching those surfaces without practicing hand hygiene that is the real issue. Institutions can follow guidelines to help break the chain of infection by targeting the high-risk moments where infection is most likely to spread. The science-based guidance can help cleaning professionals become experts in helping to reduce the spread of infection vs. cleaning for appearance.

OBJECTIVE:

Educate the cleaning industry on how to help facilities beyond Covid-19 using science-based guidance. Focus on the hygiene behaviors of occupants and targeted hygiene and cleaning methodologies for high-risk moments.

  • Provide a brief background on Sanitary Reform and how it relates to targeted hygiene practices
  • Introduce the eight moments of high-risk infection transmission
  • Identify high-risk environmental surfaces
  • Explain targeted hygiene and why it's important
  • Reinforce hygiene behavior change through education
