| | | | City of Cockburn at Careers Expo: empowering our community with local jobs The City of Cockburn is proud to be part of this year’s Skills West Careers and Employment Expo, on 24-26 July at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. We're highlighting how the defence industry is creating real opportunities for local people right here in our community. As a business owner you know how challenging it can be to find the right career path, chances are you've had a few different jobs before starting a business! If you're a parent, it's equally tough to guide the young adults of tomorrow through their training and career choices in year 11 and 12. The Careers Expo is here to help students, teachers and parents find direction and opportunities. It's also a great place for adult job seekers to meet potential employers. The City is showcasing the shipbuilding and marine sector in Cockburn with a Defence Industry Careers Zone at the expo. You'll see local businesses and training providers exhibiting. From apprenticeships in shipbuilding to careers in maintenance and marine services, there are more opportunities than many people realise within the defence supply chain. We believe in investing in strong local partnerships to help residents find real, long-term careers in one of the state’s fastest-growing industries. Explore our recent article on defence industry careers: From classroom to career: how we can guide young people into the defence industry. |
