Our founding fathers truly understood that freedom is hard to keep and easy to lose.

Radical Whig Theory, one of the key ideologies behind the American Revolution, is the idea that people in a free society must jealously guard their liberty and be wary of any government encroachment. It’s the notion that you must be willing to fight against government encroachment, and that people not willing to do so are too morally corrupt for self governance.

Certainly an interesting concept to apply to the state of governance we live in today. More here:
