NSTA Conference Daily
A new report recently released by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine suggested that integrating science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) with the arts and humanities in higher education is associated with positive learning outcomes that may help students enter the workforce, live enriched lives, and become active and informed citizens. Read the article featured in USA Today and check out the Education News Roundup for a selection of the week's other top education news stories.
Here's why science teacher Marjean I. loves NSTA: "NSTA offers so many great opportunities for me to get the cutting-edge teaching techniques that I know I can implement into the classroom right away." Find your "why" when you commit to NSTA's community. Become a member now and get our brand new #ThankAScienceTeacher tshirt when you use code MAY18 through May 31.
NSTA is launching a Twitter hashtag (#AskNSTA) to help members and the wider science education community ask and answer questions. If you have a question, tag #AskNSTA and NSTA staff will answer if it's for us, or we'll enlist our trusted community of educators to help. We have a strong network, and this is just one of the ways we can work better together.

Understanding the complex lives and lifecycles of plants is a lifetimes worth of work that can begin in early childhood. Learn how Peggy Ashbrook, NSTA Early Years, would introduce plant lifecycles to young children.
NSTA knows it can be challenging to learn the complex ins and outs of the NGSS on your own. That's why we developed a four-week online book Study around Discover the NGSS: Primer and Unit Planner, to provide science teachers with a comprehensive introduction to the NGSS. Learn more.

July 23–24
See the latest technology on farms, such as auto-steer tractors and crop sensors, in Custar, Ohio. Learn how farmers use data to make sustainable decisions. Hear about current research projects in agriculture at The Ohio State University. Each teacher will receive ready-to-use modules and access to a set of crop sensors for classroom use.
July 25–27
This workshop prepares teachers to inspire their students to discover the diverse world of genetics with iterative lesson plans that explore the ethical and social issues affecting individuals, families, and societies.
