APOCALYPSE POW: BITCOIN AND THE END OF DAYS

By Daniel Dob

You see, it's a play on words. Apocalypse Now but PoW instead of Now. "Apocalypse, PoW, Bitcoin, and the End of Days" argues that Bitcoin's proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanism makes it well-suited to survive an apocalypse. PoW requires miners to expend energy to solve cryptographic puzzles, which makes it resistant to attack and censorship. Additionally, Bitcoin's network is distributed and decentralized, making it difficult to bring down. However, the article also acknowledges that Bitcoin is not without its vulnerabilities, and that its long-term survival is not guaranteed. Better run a node just to be safe.

ZK ROLLUPS ARE COMING TO BITCOIN. HERE’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

By Namcios

Zero-knowledge (ZK) rollups are a type of Layer-2 scaling solution that can be used to improve the scalability and privacy of Bitcoin. ZK rollups batch transactions off-chain and then prove the validity of those transactions on-chain using zero-knowledge proofs. This allows for much higher throughput and lower fees than is possible on the Bitcoin base layer.

Two teams are currently working on bringing ZK rollups to Bitcoin: Zcash's Electric Coin Company (ECC) and StarkWare. ECC is developing a ZK rollup called ZkSync, while StarkWare is developing a ZK rollup called StarkNet. Both projects are still in development, but they have the potential to significantly improve the scalability and privacy of Bitcoin.

Two years later, the jury is still out on whether this experiment has been a success. The government has invested heavily in Bitcoin, but the currency's volatility has caused the value of its reserves to fluctuate wildly. Additionally, there has been limited adoption of Bitcoin among businesses and citizens. Only time will tell whether El Salvador's Bitcoin experiment will ultimately be successful.
