KEYNOTE NEWS! Futurist Alex Soojung-Kim Pang to kick off Kidscreen Summit Virtual

Exploring how shorter work hours could improve productivity and profitability in the kids entertainment industry

The film and TV workforce was stretched even before the pandemic struck, and work-from-home has exacerbated things exponentially. With the "great resignation" looming, companies—and individuals—need to get smarter about finding a new balance. In a fascinating keynote entitled “Re-Balancing Act: Work strategies for a post-pandemic era,” futurist, entrepreneur and rest expert Alex Soojung-Kim Pang makes the case for shorter work weeks, lighter loads, more downtime, and why we all need to take a step back or risk burning out.

Alex’s latest book Shorter explores the global movement to shorten working hours, and how companies in a variety of industries are moving to four-day weeks or six-hour days, and seeing tangible returns in productivity and profitability. Through his company Strategy+Rest, Alex speaks to and works with companies around the world that want to apply these insights in their organizations. He received a Ph.D. in history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania, and has been a lecturer/visiting scholar at Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Oxford University and Microsoft Research Cambridge. He is also the author of Rest: Why You Get More Done When You Work Less and The Distraction Addiction.
