On Wednesday, I testified before Congress at a hearing Republican lawmakers convened on “The Censorship-Industrial Complex.” The representatives who organized the hearing wanted to rehash their (false) claims that media and tech companies censor conservative viewpoints. But I wanted to speak about something else: the free-speech emergency created by Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
I brought the receipts showing how Trump, Musk and their appointees are trying to censor the media and retaliate against journalists who dare to hold the administration accountable.

With his financial power and a social-media megaphone he uses to spread lies, he’s fueling a constitutional crisis. He’s tearing down vital institutions, terrifying civil servants, threatening journalists trying to inform the public about his so-called Department of Government Efficiency … and that’s just the beginning.
If Republican leaders truly cared about censorship, they’d speak out about these egregious attacks on our democracy — as well as Trump’s censorship czar, a.k.a.
