Friend,
The Federal Communications Commission has been without a governing majority for the entire Biden administration. That means that the agency hasn’t been able to do things like restore Net Neutrality and the FCC’s authority over high-speed internet, begin the process of reckoning with its shameful history on race or repair all of the damage done during the Trump years.
Right now Gigi Sohn, Biden’s nominee to fill the fifth and final seat at the agency, is waiting for a vote in the Senate Commerce Committee.
The chair of the Commerce Committee, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D–Washington) needs to hear from you. Please call her D.C. office at (202) 224-3441 and use the call script below to urge her to hold the vote on Gigi Sohn before the end of January. If no one answers, please leave a message. Hello. I’m calling Senator Cantwell to urge her to hold the Commerce Committee vote on Gigi Sohn before the end of January. Further delay in confirming her is unacceptable. Thank you! We’ve worked alongside Gigi Sohn for years. She’s long championed Net Neutrality, strong rules to hold ISPs accountable, media diversity and consumer protections. And we can’t afford further delay on her confirmation.
Please take 2 minutes today to call Sen. Cantwell at (202) 224-3441, and urge her to hold the vote on Gigi Sohn before the end of January using the call script above. If no one answers, please leave a message.
Thanks for all that you do—
Heather and the rest of the Free Press Action team freepress.net
P.S. If you haven’t already, please send a message to your senators urging them to confirm Sohn. |
