This October sees the 16th incarnation of the celebration of written and spoken word taking over the Southbank Centre, for 12 days of prestigious literary names and rising stars, with events for all ages. Things kick off on 18 October with a lively opening night curated by George the Poet, who brings together artists making waves in the spoken word scene, blending poetry, music, hip-hop, performance and powerful cultural commentary. The following weekend, London Literature Festival incorporates the Black British Book Festival for the first time. It's a day-long event celebrating Black British authors across all genres — beginning with the launch event for musician Leigh-Anne Pinnock's memoir, Believe. Throughout its programme, London Literature Festival showcases the diversity of British culture around the UK, and champions London's emerging talent.
