Romantic classical music to put you in the mood for love

Celebrating 100 years of Rhapsody in Blue

George Gershwin originally turned down the offer to write Rhapsody in Blue, worried he didn't have enough time.

He picked up the newspaper in January 1924 and read that famed band leader Paul Whiteman was excited to premiere a new jazz concerto by Gershwin on February 12.

He wrote Rhapsody in Blue in five weeks. 100 years on, it remains one of the great examples of where classical music meets jazz.
