GISCafe Industry Predictions for 2024 – Mosaic51 January 5, 2024 by Sanjay Gangal By Jeffrey Martin has co-founder at Mosaic51 Jeffrey Martin Throughout 2023, we have had the opportunity to speak with our (prospective) customers, partners, and even competitors, and it has given us highly valuable insights into what the industry needs and where trends are going. Looking at the industry as a whole, we predict a surge in the demand for clearer, more detailed imagery. This demand drives the development of innovative tools that enable efficient mapping in various environments, from bustling city streets to remote landscapes. The integration of diverse technologies, especially artificial intelligence, is expected to streamline the mapping process significantly. AI’s ability to swiftly process vast amounts of data is not just a boon for efficiency but also enhances the accuracy and usability of the mapping outputs. Mobile scanning technologies are emerging as key players, particularly in urban settings where traditional mapping approaches struggle. These technologies are becoming more agile and cost-effective, allowing for rapid data collection that is both accurate and scalable. This evolution is crucial for sectors such as Digital Twinning, Smart Cities, and AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction), where up-to-date and detailed environmental data are invaluable. The images show a number of schools, hospitals and other sites where displaced Palestinians have sought shelter over the past week. In addition, in Khan Younis and Rafah, two new field hospitals have recently been established. A gallery of our images focusing on these new shelters and the crowds seen at many of the locations can be downloaded via the link below. On yesterday’s imagery, the remains of the ship can be seen smoking and largely submerged after the attack while additional damage and burned buildings and other areas are evident on the adjacent quay. In the link provided below, you can download a couple of comparison images of the area—one from before the attack (collected on 5 December) and one after the attack (collected on 26 December). Please let us know if you have any questions about the material. Utilities sit at the heart of the decarbonization agenda. They are required to facilitate greater integration of distributed resources, new generation types, and greater electrification in transport, heating, and industrial processes. They must do all this while managing end-of-life infrastructure in a financial climate of tight margins, and an operating environment containing more hazards, threats, and risks than ever before. Industry Predictions 2024 – Outsight January 4, 2024 by Sanjay Gangal Revolutionizing the World with LiDAR: 2024’s Industry Game-Changer As we step into 2024, the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology is poised to transcend its automotive roots, marking a paradigm shift in its application spectrum. This year is set to witness LiDAR’s widespread adoption in sectors beyond automotive, particularly in major transportation hubs like airports and in smart city applications such as parking management and smart highways. This article delves into the anticipated technological innovations, market trends, and the integration of artificial intelligence with LiDAR technology, outlining how these elements will collectively redefine industry standards. New Satellite Imagery – Munich Snow Storm January 3, 2024 by Sanjay Gangal European Space Imaging (EUSI) collected new satellite imagery on 3 December over Munich, Germany, now covered in blankets of snow from a record-breaking snowfall of 45 cm this past weekend. The heaviest snowfall in 20 years brought chaos into the capital of Bavaria as flights, trains, and other means of transport were cancelled. Emergency responders reported multiple transport accidents caused by the icy conditions, and thousands of households experienced power outages.
