Recent analysis from Aviation Week Intelligence Network's (AWIN) Tracked Aircraft Utilization module reveals a significant advancement in global aviation sustainability efforts. The first half of 2025 has witnessed substantial improvements in fuel efficiency across the industry compared to 2024 performance metrics. Here are the key highlights:

Emissions: Total emissions are marginally higher than over the same period in 2024, as more hours and cycles have been flown. It is only on a per-Available Seat Kilometer (ASK) basis that a reduction is seen.

Fuel Consumption: 126 billion kg of fuel has powered 35.5 million hours of flight in 2025 so far. Looking back further to 2019, over the same period, it took 3.7% more fuel to fly 10.2% fewer hours.
