Have a great weekend yourself! - Mark Here’s what’s on Good Morning San Antonio for Friday, January 24: CLICK HERE TO WATCH LIVE Today’s Headlines WATCH: Ex-Constable Michelle Barrientes Vela faces judge after turning self in on felony charges Former Bexar County Pct. 2 Constable Michelle Barrientes Vela, now a candidate for sheriff, has been indicted on three felony charges. The charges include one felony count of aggravated perjury, two felony counts of tampering with evidence and three misdemeanor counts of official oppression, according to indictments released by the Bexar County District Attorney Thursday. Vela turned herself in to authorities Thursday afternoon at the Bexar County Courthouse. She was placed in handcuffs before facing a judge. A former member of Vela’s administration, Captain Marc Garcia, was also indicted on one felony count of aggravated perjury and three counts of official oppression, a Class A misdemeanor, the DA’s office said. He was also booked on Thursday. Boy, 15, shot in Medical Center apartment dies; suspect arrested A 15-year-old boy who was shot in an apartment in the Medical Center has died, San Antonio police said. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Danny Hernandez. Police said Hernandez and Daron Pittman, 17, were inside a bedroom Friday when family members heard a gunshot. They ran into the room and found Hernandez had been shot and Pittman was missing, police said. Hernandez was transported to a hospital, where he died. Woman killed at Southeast Side apartment complex identified by family members Family members have identified a woman who was killed in a shooting at a Southeast Side apartment complex. Ana Martinez, 19, died in the hospital after the shooting Wednesday, the family said. Police said Martinez and at least five others were at the Pecan Valley Apartments on East Southcross when Martinez was shot. Martinez’s family came together to honor her memory. “We just want justice.We want her to rest in peace. She has two beautiful kids that will no longer have her,” said Elizabeth Gonzales, Martinez’s sister-in-law. But if you’re new to the Alamo City, you might have some questions about Friday’s event -- which is understandable because it’s definitely unique. Cowboy Breakfast is touted as the world’s largest free cooked breakfast. It was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records in 2001. About 30,000 people gather outside Cowboys Dancehall at 3030 NE Interstate 410 very early in the morning to line up for free tacos and biscuits and gravy served by hundreds of volunteers. Here’s what to expect when you visit San Antonio-area tulip field A giant tulip field in La Vernia opened Thursday after much anticipation... and the reviews are mixed. Only a small portion of the field is currently blooming but it’s enough to get some nice photos if you’re looking for some close-ups. KSAT went to see the field in person and spoke with several flower fans who offered different reactions. 2 NEISD elementary schools reporting high flu numbers Two North East ISD elementary schools will use disinfectant misting machines after high flu numbers were reported on both campuses. Sixty flu cases were confirmed at Roan Forest Elementary School, according to a spokesperson from the district. At Encino Park Elementary School, 34 flu cases have been reported. Neither school has canceled class, but officials are using the disinfectant machines to sanitize all surfaces. The schools’ attendance rates are about 92%, according to the district.
