The public entity has been able to recoup none of it. Years after a Bexar County jury ordered a father and son to pay back close to $750,000 to the San Antonio River Authority following a land dispute, officials with the public entity concede they have been unable to recover any of the money. The river authority’s general counsel, David Ross, admitted during an interview late last year that it is unlikely SARA will get back all of the money.“It’s hard to say, but I think that we may get some of it back,” Ross said. The dispute between SARA and father and son Jesus and Rene Sanchez is rooted in the construction of Mission Reach, the eight miles of walk and bike paths that move in sync with the San Antonio River. While the $271 million project was mostly funded by Bexar County, SARA was its project manager and was responsible for acquiring the land needed to complete it. Rosary to be held Wednesday for District Court Judge Ray Olivarri Funeral arrangements have been set for District Court Judge Ray Olivarri after he passed away this week following a long battle with cancer. Rosary will be held at San Fernando Cathedral on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The visitation will begin at 6 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. All civil district judges are welcome to attend to pay their respects. No Civil District Presiding Court will be held Thursday, Jan. 23 in honor of Judge Olivarri. Flags at all county facilities will remain at half-staff on Thursday until sunset, out of respect. Olivarri presided over the 144th Criminal District Court and was in the middle of his four-year term prior to his passing. TABC opens investigation into Ventura bar shooting; Venue releases statement two days after violent incident The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has opened an investigation into a shooting that claimed the lives of two people and left five others wounded Sunday night at a downtown San Antonio bar. According to a news release, TABC agents will conduct a breach investigation of Ventura to determine if the club took proper steps to ensure public safety. Investigators will also determine whether the sale or service of alcohol contributed to the shooting. Breach investigations are standard procedure when a violent incident resulting in death or serious injury -- dubbed a “breach of the peace” by TABC -- happens at a licensed business, according to agency Executive Director Bentley Nettles.
