He's a 4-year veteran of the SAPD. We think he's a super nice guy, and he definitely knows his stuff. He'll be a great fit on GMSA. We've also added a talented veteran producer named Hardy Meredith. He'll work his magic behind the scenes and has already impressed us! Congratulations and welcome aboard gentlemen! Oh, and Mike wants us to tell you three simple words. "Grab a coat." ;) Bundle up. Soliz will be on-air for the first time Thursday morning. So, who is this new guy? Get to know a little more about the man you'll see on TV. (He's pretty awesome!) Mayor to declare Saturday 'Tony Parker Day' in San Antonio San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg will declare Saturday as "Tony Parker Day." He announced on Twitter that he plans to make the proclamation during Thursday's city council A-session. "Merci, @tonyparker, for being such a pivotal part of the @spurs beautiful game for 17 seasons. We miss you on that court! #GoSpursGo," Nirenberg posted. Parker's jersey will be retired after Monday night's Spurs game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Starbucks to give away free reusable red cups Starbucks is bringing back a tradition that keeps on giving! The coffee giant is giving away free reusable red cups at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada starting Thursday, while supplies last. Patrons must order a holiday-themed beverage to receive the free cup, which has the words "Merry Coffee" featured in big letters, a riff on this year's holiday theme, according to Starbucks. Today's Headlines Aggravated sexual assault suspect killed in officer-involved shooting on SW Side: SAPD An aggravated sexual assault suspect is dead after a shooting involving a San Antonio police officer during a Lone Star Fugitive Task Force operation on the Southwest Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department. The shooting was reported Wednesday night at a Walmart gas station near Southwest Loop 410 and Ray Ellison Boulevard. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force was following the suspect, in his 30s, on the Southwest Side, when they boxed him in at the gas station. WATCH: VIA releases new video from high-water bus rescue Newly released surveillance video shows how a VIA Metropolitan Transit bus became stranded in a flooded road last month. The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Oct. 24 near Dreamland Road. Dashcam video shows the bus coming to an abrupt stop in high water during heavy weather. The driver is then seen struggling to control the steering wheel, and passengers are taken by surprise as water begins to enter the bus. East Side shooting sends pair to hospital, police say A man and a woman were taken to an area hospital after being shot on the city's East Side early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said. Officers responded just before 3 a.m. to the Knights Inn in the 4000 block of East Houston Street after receiving reports of two people wounded. According to police, the woman was shot in the back and the man was grazed by a bullet in the back of the head.
