Good morning and Happy Labor Day weekend! As we get ready to celebrate the unofficial end of summer, our thoughts are with everyone in the path of Hurricane Dorian. Leslie is traveling to southern Georgia for a long-planned trip this weekend. I know she's coming home earlier than planned, hoping to get out of Dorian's way. Cross your fingers she doesn't get stuck out there. Many of you may have outdoor plans this weekend. I did my grilling last night...fire-roasting a whole chicken. It was delicious! I plan to just chill out this weekend after spending more time on a local river than planned last weekend (the water level was low). Tiffany, who's subbing for Leslie today, says she's going to dip her toes in the beautiful Frio River. Concan will be crowded this weekend! Today's HeadlinesFuneral services announced for former SA mayor Lila Cockrell Funeral arrangements have been released for former San Antonio mayor Lila Cockrell, who died Thursday at the age of 97. The funeral service will take place Thursday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Laurel Heights United Methodist Church on West Woodlawn Avenue. ‘Pattern of problems': City moves Catholic Charities to ‘high risk' status, withholds funds The city of San Antonio placed Catholic Charities in "high risk" status and withheld more than $2,000 in funding after a review of the local nonprofit uncovered a list of concerns, according to an internal memo obtained by the KSAT 12 Defenders. The memo announcing the decision, written by Assistant City Manager Dr. Colleen Bridger on July 23, was sent to city leadership, including the mayor and city council, a day after the Defenders revealed a long list of accounting problems hampering the charitable arm of the archdiocese. Police: Man barricades himself inside apartment after attacking woman A man has barricaded himself inside a Castle Hills apartment after police say he attacked a woman overnight. The standoff began around 1:30 a.m. at the Castle Hills Townhomes in the 1900 block of Larkspur Drive after police received a call about a cutting.
