Local judge working to improve domestic violence epidemic Making the community a safe place is what drives Bexar County Court 13 Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez. Her background in social work, and later as an attorney led her to run for judge. Last November, Gonzalez was the first openly gay judge to be elected in Bexar County, and she runs one of two domestic violence courts. "It's one of the biggest problems in our community," Gonzalez said. Lesley Wenger, 77, was taken into custody on felony charges of tampering with evidence and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. Sylvia Gonzalez, 72, is charged with tampering with a government record. Church bus with 40 kids returning to San Antonio catches fire A bus full of kids returning to San Antonio from a four-day church youth camp caught fire Thursday morning in Blanco County. Fire crews responded to the scene on Highway 281, about six miles north of Johnson City in Blanco County, where four buses carrying 200 kids were all pulled over on the side of the road. Bexar County sheriff's deputy arrested on weapons charge A Bexar County sheriff's deputy was served a termination notice after she was arrested on a weapons charge, according to the sheriff's office. Veronica Michelle Dado, 40, was taken into custody by the office's fugitive apprehension unit and charged with unlawful carry of a weapon, according to a news release.
