It soon became clear he was not going to get off "easy" with what were apparently some very unhappy staff. Part of the reason for the mood: The multi-million dollar nonprofit's financial, accounting, and other problems revealed by the KSAT 12 Defenders in a series of investigations since July. A more than 90-minute audio recording of the meeting, obtained by the Defenders days after it took place, included Fernandez making claims to his staff that have since been called false. 'DWI Dude' guilty of swindling Colombian drug traffickers A local criminal defense attorney known as "The DWI Dude" was convicted Tuesday in federal court for defrauding his Colombian cocaine trafficking clients, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office. James Morris Balagia, who is also known as Jamie Balagia, was found guilty of five criminal charges after a two-week trial, according to the news release. The jury convicted him of conspiracy to commit money laundering, obstruction of justice, violation of the Kingpin Act, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Balagia was accused of conspiring with a Florida private investigator and a Colombian attorney to defraud the accused drug traffickers. Man leads authorities on chase after assault, shooting, police say A local man has been arrested after he assaulted a woman and led authorities on a vehicle chase early Wednesday morning, San Antonio police said. The incident began around 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Whiskeys bar in the 6300 block of Callaghan Road, not far from Loop 410. According to police, a man and a woman got into an altercation outside the bar, and he punched the woman in the face. When officers arrived, the man had a gun pointed at the woman's head, police said. Police said the man fired at officers before getting into a car and driving away.
