Roger is on vacation so Kane is filling in for his VIP Trade Room at noon ET — Kane will continue Monday’s discussion on volatility, and cover institutional buying and selling in the markets Good Chart, Bad Fill: When to Walk Away From a TradeA setup can look great on the chart — directional bias, solid structure, even a nice ATR window — but that’s not enough. If the strikes aren’t liquid, you walk. That was the call on a recent Best Buy (BBY) I was considering, and it was the right one. We looked at a slight call-side setup. Directionally, the market is strong, and BBY showed a small upside lean. But it had downside risk, and more importantly, it wasn’t liquid enough to justify the trade. 'Tight' Means Nothing Without Liquidity Some of the BBY strikes looked tight. Others didn’t. And when we tested spreads — $63, $68, $73 — none of them moved well. No fills, no responsiveness. That tells you everything you need to know. Low gamma can be a positive. It means market makers probably aren’t trying to push it around. But low gamma with no liquidity is just dead weight. If you're stuck in a position you can’t exit, it doesn’t matter how good the chart looks — it’s not a real trade. You can’t force it. Not every good chart gives you a usable trade. That’s why BBY got dropped. It’s not about being right — it’s about being realistic. If a spread won’t fill efficiently, walk away and move on to the next one. Now be sure and join me at noon ET for the VIP Trade Room! I’ll continue Monday’s discussion about volatility, cover institutional buying and selling in the markets and more… See you LIVE at noon!Kane Shieh Kane Shieh Trading Follow along and join the conversation for real-time analysis, trade ideas, market insights and more!
