By KELLY P. KISSEL The governor's mother has died. As part of his tribute, Gov. John Bel Edwards noted his mother, Dora Jean Edwards, raised eight children, taught catechism and "made the best red beans and rice." Edwards also said his mother and father instilled in their children the importance of faith, family and public service. Deputies today released horrific details from a death of a woman whose body was found near Airline Highway this month. According to an arrest report, the woman died from blunt force wounds before her body was stuffed into a plastic barrel and set on fire. A motive isn't known, but a suspect has been arrested. The top female athlete on a list of top collegians with name, image and likeness deals is an LSU gymnast.
