A tool as simple as a grease gun can be misunderstood. These 7 tips should clear up some confusion.

Dan Anderson's father’s rule was, “Never walk past a grease zerk without greasing it.” Maybe a new policy should be, “Never walk past a grease zerk without pausing to examine the surrounding machinery for possible problems.”

Grease-able bearings come in two designs. One design has no seal on one side, so grease from its zerk easily gets where it needs to go. The other design has seals on both sides of the bearing and one or two small holes in the surface of the outer race.
