USCG updates AMS Program As of July 2016, the Coast Guard has determined that 56 foreign administration approved ballast water management systems (BWMS) have met the criteria for acceptance as AMS. To be eligible for use, an AMS must be installed on a vessel prior to the date the vessel is required to comply with the ballast water discharge standard (BWDS). |

WWL switches to low-sulphur fuel at all ports Since 2010, all ships operating at ports in the EU and along the coasts of Canada and the USA are required to use fuel with a maximum of 0.1 per cent sulphur. Global car carrier Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has now gone a step further by using low-sulphur fuel for all its vessels at all ports. |
