Top names unite to drive forward LNG as a marine fuel

Carnival Corporation, DNV GL, ENGIE, ENN, GE, GTT, Lloyd’s Register, Mitsubishi Corporation, NYK Line, Port of Rotterdam, Qatargas, Shell, TOTE Inc. and Wärtsilä have announced a new cross-industry initiative called SEA\LNG, to accelerate the use of LNG as a marine fuel.




USCG updates AMS Program

As of July 2016, the Coast Guard has determined that 56 foreign administration approved ballast water management systems (BWMS) have met the criteria for acceptance as AMS. To be eligible for use, an AMS must be installed on a vessel prior to the date the vessel is required to comply with the ballast water discharge standard (BWDS).


WWL switches to low-sulphur fuel at all ports

Since 2010, all ships operating at ports in the EU and along the coasts of Canada and the USA are required to use fuel with a maximum of 0.1 per cent sulphur. Global car carrier Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has now gone a step further by using low-sulphur fuel for all its vessels at all ports.



IMO puts effective fuel monitoring in the spotlight

Damian McCann, engine product manager at Royston diesel power, says that the MEPC’s recent call for the reporting of vessel fuel consumption highlights the growing importance of advanced fuel management systems.

Standardisation drives BTWS control

UECC launches second dual-fuel LNG car carrier

UECC has officially launched its second dual-fuel car carrier – the TBN Auto Energy following the launch of TBN Auto Eco in last April. The company has signed a contract to construct two dual fuel LNG PCTCs with 1A Super Finnish/Swedish ice class.

Ever Lambent, an 8,452 TEU containership owned by the Evergreen Group, passed through the expanded Panama Canal on the ninth of July (Panama time), marking a new era for Evergreen Line’s all-water services connecting the Far East with the US East Coast.
