The find of a lifetime: Man’s state park visit pays off Some people love treasure hunting during nature outings. Whether they’re sniffing for gold with metal detectors or simply using their eyes, you’d be surprised at how much hidden stuff they can find. But one visitor to an Arkansas state park had the discovery of his life when he spotted an unbelievable 9.07-carat diamond out of the blue. He visited Crater of Diamonds State Park to do some gravel sifting when he came across a shiny object he thought was a piece of glass. Upon sorting through his findings later, an appraiser confirmed that this was the genuine article. A stone this big can net around $13,689 at minimum, and in some cases can be worth as much as $200,535. Maybe we should all take a trip to the Crater of Diamonds.
