'Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Trick or Treat Fest'
Dress up in your favorite costume, take photos with characters and collect candy at 20 trick-or-treat stations spread across the zoo. This daytime Halloween celebration also includes a Monster Mash Dance Party at the park’s amphitheater and unlimited rides on the Pumpkin Express. Smashing Pumpkins at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
It’s time to relive your youth as two of the biggest alt-rock bands of the ‘90s perform at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Jane’s Addiction opens the show before Smashing Pumpkins take over with hits like “1979,” “Cherub Rock” and “Bullet With Butterfly Wings.” The bill also features singer-songwriter Meg Myers. The Cleveland Orchestra's Halloween Spooktacular

All Hale’s Eve: Sleepy Halo-O at Hale Farm and Village
This adults-only, Sleepy Hollow-themed bash has live music, two cash bars and “Trick & Treat” tasting stations from a variety of local food vendors, breweries, vineyards and meaderies located throughout the museum’s haunted historic village. Impressionism to Modernism: The Keithley Collection
This special exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art showcases Joseph and Nancy Keithley’s 2020 gift to the museum: a collection of more than 100 works of art worth more than $100 million. The pieces include five paintings by Pierre Bonnard; four each by Maurice Denis and Édouard Vuillard; and individual works by Henri-Edmond Cross, Vilhelm Hammershøi, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Camille Pissarro, Nicolas de Stael, and Andrew Wyeth. 'Wendell & Wild'
For something more family friendly, this Netflix stop-motion animation pic features the voices of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as demon brothers. An original idea from director Henry Selick, who also directed the spooky but kid-friendly classics “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Coraline.” “Wendell & Wild” starts streaming on Friday, Oct. 28. 'The Good Nurse'
In the new Netflix film, Jessica Chastain plays an overworked ICU nurse and single mother who, after a patient’s death, starts to suspect things about about her new colleague Charlie, played by Eddie Redmayne. Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm directed the thriller, which began streaming on Wednesday. DETAILS

‘Barbarian’

This low-budget indie horror starring Justin Long became a sleeper hit at the box office. “Barbarian” also stars Georgina Campbell as a woman who is inadvertently double booked with a stranger (“It’s” Bill Skarsgård) in a creepy Detroit-area Airbnb run by Long’s character, a TV actor facing sexual misconduct allegations.  Now streaming on VOD. ‘Pearl’

Ti West’s technicolor horror prequel starring Mia Goth as a farmgirl in a pandemic plagued Texas town in 1918 whose dreams of movie stardom drive her a bit mad. There are references to everything from “Singin’ in the Rain” to “The Wizard of Oz,” but with a sinister, murderous edge.  Currently available on VOD. DETAILS

 

‘Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities’

An anthology produced by the Oscar-winning filmmaker aimed at challenging “traditional” expectations of horror. Eight stories include “The Autopsy,” based on a Michael Shea short story and starring F. Murray Abraham, Glynn Turman and Luke Roberts; the H.P. Lovecraft-based “Dreams in the Witch House,” with Rupert Grint and Ismael Cruz Cordova, and “Lot 36,” one of two episodes based on an original story by del Toro and starring Tim Blake Nelson and Elpidia Carrillo.  Currently available on Netflix. ‘A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting’

HBO feature on a gunman’s deadly attack on a house of worship, its causes and the aftermath.  Directed by Trish Adlesic, the film delves into the 11 lives that were lost in the October 2018 tragedy and the effect on family members, survivors and the community at large. Michael Keaton, Billy Porter and Mark Cuban, the film’s prominent executive producers, are natives of the Pittsburgh area. DETAILS

Lainey Wilson

Breakout country artist of the year Lainey Wilson’s new studio album comes out Friday, featuring 14 tracks, all of which she co-wrote except one cover. Singles from “Bell Bottom Country” include the sweet first-love ditty “Watermelon Moonshine” and “Heart Like a Truck,” with the lyrics: “I got a heart like a truck/It’s been drug through the mud/Runs on dreams and gasoline.” DETAILS 

 

Garbage
A new compilation called “Anthology” will be available on double transparent yellow vinyl and two CD editions, as well as through major online streaming platforms starting Friday. It contains the hits “Stupid Girl,” “I Think I’m Paranoid,” “Why Do You Love Me” and “Only Happy When It Rains.” Among the 35 tracks is a rare recording called “Witness to Your Love.” DETAILS

 

Mushroomhead at the Agora
Bang your heads as these heavy metal rockets in matching jumpsuits and artsy masks return to their hometown with a Halloween weekend show at the historic Agora theatre. Half Raised Heathens and Bittersweet Revenge are the opening acts. Tickets, $30-$55. DETAILS

 

'Till'

Chinonye Chukwu’s fact-based account of Emmett Till’s mother’s quest for justice, is a powerful film, made that much more stirring by its score. The soundtrack by Abel Korzeniowski, who composed, orchestrated and conducted, is out Friday, and has stirring strings, dark pulses and thrilling sequences. Listen to “This Is My Boy” and try not to be moved. Korzeniowski says: "It is a tribute to those, who against all odds, and despite the world’s indifference to their plight, continue to preserve their humanity.”" DETAILS 

 

'Louis Wishes You a Cool Yule'

Having never released on during his lifetime, this marks Louis Armstrong's first official Christmas album.  “Cool Yule,” “Christmas Night in Harlem” and the swinging “’Zat You Santa Claus?" are three of the eleven tracks included on this album, releasing digitally on Friday with a CD and vinyl release to follow on Nov. 11. Rakim at House of Blues

Rakim, one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time, takes the stage at House of Blues Cleveland in what promises to be an unforgettable show. Tickets, $28-$60. DETAILS
