6-7:30pm Twelve years after the Harvard Art Museums exhibition Gods in Color: Painted Sculpture of Classical Antiquity, research on color in Greek and Roman art continues to change our understanding of Classical art and to resonate in contemporary conversations about race and representation in the museum setting. In this talk, scholars Jennifer Stager and Sarah Derbew will share new research that compels us to take a fresh look at how we understand color in the ancient Mediterranean world.
Free admission, but seating is limited. Tickets will be distributed beginning at 5:30pm at the Broadway entrance. |

2:30-3:30pm Join us for an hourlong architectural tour of the Harvard Art Museums, led by Peter Atkinson, director of facilities planning and management. Recognized in the National Register of Historic Places, the Harvard Art Museums are a dynamic laboratory for the arts where teaching and research unite with world-class collections. Free with museums’ admission. This tour is limited to 15 people and tickets are required. Ten minutes before the tour, tickets will become available at the admissions desk. |

Oliver Sanghvi York ‘21
Lowell House
Oliver is a junior from San Francisco studying academic economics. He enjoys dancing, looking at buildings, and attending events hosted by visiting lecturers. On the Student Board, Oliver is excited to engage in conversation about the responsibilities and opportunities stemming from the Harvard Art Museums’ role as a civic institution..
Zoë Hopkins ‘22
Lowell House
Zoë has been in love with the Harvard Art Museums since the beginning of her first year at Harvard, during which she lived just across the street in Canaday. In addition to being on the Student Board, Zoë is also a student assistant at the Art Study Center. She is particularly interested in questions of how HAM and other museums can exist as inviting and engaging places for broader and more diverse populations.
Babi Oloko ‘21
Mather House
Babi Oloko is a sophomore in Mather House. She is studying History of Art and Architecture and enjoys her work at various galleries and the Harvard Arts Museums Communications Department. In her free time, Babi likes to go to concerts and practice skateboarding.
Celine Cuadra ‘22
Mather House
Celine Cuadra is a sophomore at Mather House, concentrating in both History and Literature as well as Art, Film and Visual Studies. She is from Los Angeles, California and is involved in various latinx and first-generation organizations on campus, including serving as a board member for LEAD (the Latina Empowerment and Development Conference) as well as Primus, established in 2013 as the First Generation Student Union. She is extremely excited to be co-representing Mather House on the student board as both a visual artist and an aspiring curator.
Daniel Rosenblatt ‘20
Pforzheimer House
Daniel Rosenblatt is a senior from Connecticut living in Pforzheimer House. At Harvard, he studies History and Literature (with a focus in American Studies) and Computer Science. When he is not hanging out at the Harvard Art Museums, you can probably find him on the courts with the Club Tennis team or helping out with events relating to Jewish life on campus.

We warmly invite Harvard students to join an intimate and informal conversation in the Art Study Center with Sarah Derbew (Harvard Society of Fellows) and Jennifer Stager (Johns Hopkins University) on Wednesday, December 4, 11am-12:30pm. Stager and Derbew will share new research that compels us to take a fresh look at how we understand color in the ancient Mediterranean world. Interested students are welcome to sign up here. Spaces are first-come, first-served and spots will be confirmed via email.

Join the Harvard Radcliffe Asian American Association at the Harvard Art Museums on December 6th from 1-2pm for a gallery tour and discussion exploring Asian and Asian American Identity by analyzing various works of art in the collection. It will be led by Sarah Kianovsky, Curator of the Collection for the Division of Modern and Contemporary Art. All identities are welcome! If you are interested, please register here.
