| Not so long ago one felt that Lewis Hamilton was falling out of love with Formula 1, and that his outside interests – fashion, making movies etc – were a full-time career step that was getting much closer.
But this season really seems to have relit his fire, after a painful sixth in the 2022 standings and being outpaced by team-mate George Russell. This year, Hamilton has really turned the tables, and even though his Mercedes is still tricky to drive, he’s clearly wringing the maximum performance out of it.
The noises that Toto Wolff is making about their next deal together, with no provisos for an ambassadorial role, means we should get to see more of that Lewis/Merc combo for some years yet.
And it remains our best bet of anyone toppling the Max/Red Bull steamroller anytime soon. By: Charles Bradley, Global Editor in Chief
