Happening Piu Piu by Naima Ramos-Chapman Long Story Short Short films are getting their moment in the spotlight—appreciated not just as a stepping stone to a feature film or a proof of concept in a skeptical industry but as a vital and vibrant art form in their own right. On Kickstarter, filmmakers use the mini-but-mighty format to push boundaries and tell compelling, creative, beautiful new stories. (Just yesterday, Matthew Cherry’s heartwarming Hair Love was nominated for an Oscar!)
This March, we’re inviting new and seasoned filmmakers to launch short film projects on Kickstarter as part of Long Story Short, our monthlong celebration of the form.
We’ll be featuring live shorts projects in every genre, sharing resources for filmmakers, and highlighting some of the outstanding shorts that have come out of the Kickstarter community over the past 10 years.
