Happy Thanksgiving, LSU fans

Good morning, LSU fans and newsletter enthusiasts. Welcome to the Thanksgiving edition of our LSU newsletter, sponsored by a boat of turkey gravy.

What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Mine is my mother's cornbread dressing. Brian Kelly said he's got to have mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving, though as much as I love mashed potatoes I've never had them on the Thanksgiving table.

Anyway, I know it's a big holiday and you don't have a lot of time to waste reading a newsletter, even one as informative and entertaining as this one. So let's cut to the chase of what is a light table of stories compared to the Thanksgiving table most of us will be enjoying.

First of all, the LSU women's basketball team is heading back from The Bahamas with a tournament title in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship after surviving Washington 68-67 Monday and hammering No. 20 NC State 82-65 on Wednesday. It was a good win for the No. 7-ranked Tigers (8-0), considering NC State made the Final Four last season.

There's one more regular-season football game afoot, of course, and that's Oklahoma's historic first-ever visit to Tiger Stadium on Saturday night (6 p.m., ESPN). Our Reed Darcey has his four keys to the game right here.

The divorce settlement between former LSU coach Ed Orgeron and his ex-wife Kelly is apparently going all the way to the Louisiana Supreme Court. Find out all the details here.

Finally, as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of Tiger Stadium and the release of my new book, "100 Years in Death Valley," we've got an interesting little tiger tale here of LSU's Mike II mascot — and its other Mike II mascot.

Tha's all for today, folks. The happiest of Thanksgivings to you and your family, and we'll catch you this weekend.

Save me a drumstick!

Scott Rabalais
