Does your church have a sexual harassment policy? We recently released an executive report covering research we conducted on sexual harassment in Christian workplaces. Over 750 church and ministry leaders participated in this confidential, nationwide survey. The findings uncovered numerous trends, one of which revealed that only 40 percent of churches had written policies prohibiting sexual harassment. We also discovered that among the respondents, 1 in 6 said they had personally experienced sexual harassment in a church or ministry work setting. Based on what we learned from our research, it is apparent that harassment is an issue, and a growing number of states are now requiring employers to train employees on harassment prevention. Whether or not your state requires training, it’s important to have policies in place and take the necessary prevention measures to protect your church and its members.
