If you find yourself frustrated that your busy boss doesn't have to time to be your mentor, look to work or personal friends, who will have the time and longevity to be a good mentor. "For peers with whom you have stronger relationships, the tangible outcomes of this relationship often overlap with the same outcomes employees tend to seek in a mentor-mentee relationship -- that is, information, assistance, feedback, and support," writes career consultant Jaime Potter.
