Hello, Royal Watchers!
Do you believe that children of celebrities have a right to privacy? What about the children of former senior members of the Royal Family?
Well, one very famous child (and his mum) is suing a photo agency for breach of privacy: the Duchess of Sussex and her one-year-old son, Archie, are both listed as claimants in a case against paparazzi agency Splash News for taking their pictures while out for a walk when they lived in British Columbia, soon after they announced their exit from the Royal Family.
The photos, which were published in U.K. tabloids, were taken in January and show Meghan Markle carrying her then eight-month-old child in a baby carrier and walking her dogs. Now, Markle is trying to stop those photos from being published again, and is also suing for misuse of her private information.
Markle's lawyer says that the photos were taken without consent, and that they were "on a private recreational outing" in a public area.
So, what do you think? Should Markle and her son expect a right to privacy while in public, or should members of the press be allowed to take their photos and sell them to newspapers? We're keeping a close eye on this case and will keep you updated!
Take care, stay safe, and have a great weekend, Royal Watchers! 👑👑 |
