Last year, we welcomed Dr Ben O'Leary to lead our new Evolution and Translational Genomics Group. Dr O’Leary is at the forefront of research into smarter, more effective therapies for head and neck cancers, focusing on understanding why some tumours become resistant to radiotherapy. His research is advancing personalised cancer care, bringing hope to people affected by head and neck cancer.

Improved breast cancer diagnostic tools on the horizon
Our scientists, having led one of the world’s largest and longest-running studies into the causes of breast cancer, have developed tools to identify women at high risk of the disease, even if they don’t have a family history.

New drug target discovered for aggressive form of prostate cancer

Professor Johann de Bono is co-leading a team that have discovered that a protein linked to prostate cancer is associated with more aggressive forms of the disease, allowing scientists to help predict who will become resistant to hormone therapy.

To mark what would have been Daniel Caplan’s 21st birthday, his parents donated £21,000 through Doing it for Daniel Foundation to support Professor Chris Jones' ground-breaking research into paediatric brain tumours.
