The Polish EU Presidency, coinciding with the entry into power of the new European Commission, presents a vital opportunity to reboot EU policies and drive reinvigorate investment and growth. Presenting our Warsaw Declaration outlining business’ priorities, President Fredrik Persson emphasised: "To remain an anchor of peace, prosperity, and stability, Europe must act decisively to strengthen its economy and close the widening competitiveness gap with major global players. Security will be the central theme of the incoming presidency, and today we underline that a strong and competitive economy is the foundation for Europe’s security.” We urge the EU to prioritise ten key actions during the Polish Presidency, starting with defining an ambitious Single Market strategy |
by mid-2025 and proposing a new Clean Industrial Deal to reduce regulatory burdens on companies, accelerate permitting, reduce energy costs, and address labour and skills shortages. In addition, the changing geopolitical landscape will require a prudent strategy to diversify our import and export markets. The Council has also reaffirmed its support for Ukraine and its people. Since Russia’s invasion, the EU has mobilised nearly €122 billion in financial, humanitarian, and military assistance to Ukraine. A resilient EU economy is the foundation to ensure that this support can last for as long as necessary. The reconstruction of Ukraine brings many challenges but also enormous opportunities.” Read the Warsaw Declaration. |
