"Litquake is to the literary world what South by Southwest is to the music industry or Sundance is to independent film."
~ San Francisco Examiner

Greetings from Litquake, San Francisco's premier literary festival! We've been busy this spring, preparing for our 16th annual festival Oct. 9-17, and enhancing our mission to support reading, publishing, and the extraordinary literary community in the Bay Area. We're able to continue this mission because of donors like you. Thanks to your support, in recent months we have:

Forged new partnerships in the literary community thanks to collaborations with the new Oakland Book Festival, San Francisco Opera, Mechanics' Institute Library, the Chinese Historical Society, the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley, the Beat Museum, Electric Literature, and Lit Hub.
Begun prep work on a new Lit Crawl in Portland (as part of the Wordstock festival) and fielded Crawl queries from several other cities, including Chicago.
Expanded a sold-out series of writing seminars, taught by the likes of Pulitzer Prize-winner T.J. Stiles, New York Times bestseller Joyce Maynard, San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, and many more.
Doubled the number of Epicenter author conversation events. Appearing last month were literary icon Joyce Carol Oates, actor/activist/memoirist Peter Coyote, and comedian/author Bruce McCulloch of Kids in the Hall.
Begun planning a summer fundraiser in conjunction with the Contemporary Jewish Museum, "Born to Read," a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's masterpiece Born to Run, which will feature presentations from luminaries like Carey Perloff, Joyce Maynard, Ben Fong-Torres, Matthew Zapruder, Phil Bronstein, Tom Heyman and more.

We could not have become the largest nonprofit literary festival on the West Coast (80% of programming free to the public) without your generous support. We need our donors to help us reach more people with the power and beauty of the written and spoken word. Can you take a minute and contribute today to Litquake by clicking here?

What's in it for you? Fantastic perks (see below!) like all-festival passes, invitations to VIP parties with acclaimed authors, acknowledgement on our website and festival guide (read by 20,000 book-loving attendees) and the knowledge that your donation supports what Dave Eggers has called "one of the very best literary festivals in the U.S." Please join us today!

With gratitude for your support and belief in the power of words,

Jane Ganahl & Jack Boulware

About Litquake

Litquake, San Francisco's annual literary festival, was founded by Bay Area writers in order to put on a week-long literary spectacle for book lovers, complete with cutting-edge panels, unique cross-media events, and hundreds of readings. Since its founding in 1999, the festival has presented more than 6,300 author appearances for an audience of over 132,000 in its lively and inclusive celebration of San Francisco's thriving contemporary literary scene. Litquake seeks to foster interest in literature, perpetuate a sense of literary community, and provide a vibrant forum for Bay Area writing as a complement to the city's music, film, and cultural festivals. 2015 Dates: 10/9-17. www.litquake.org
