Across Europe, millions of people want to see Basic Income become a reality. In many countries, they even represent the majority, according to polls. Yet no European country is close to introducing UBI. Why?

Over the years, we’ve done a tremendous job raising awareness of UBI as one of the most forward-thinking policies of our time. But now, we must go a step further. We need to persuade politicians to be bolder and push UBI up their agenda.

That’s why we are launching our new campaign: Mayors for UBI. And we need your support to make it take off!

What’s the Campaign About?

The concept is simple but powerful: We will ask local and regional decision makers to pledge their interest in running UBI pilot schemes in their municipalities or regions. This gives local councils and leaders a chance to show their support for UBI without bearing immediate costs.

The “Mayors for UBI” campaign builds on the success of similar initiatives like the Mayoral Pledge by UBI Lab Network in the UK and Mayors for Guaranteed Income in the US. We know this approach works, and now it’s time to bring it to Europe.

How Can You Help?

Join us in Krakow from 27-29 September at the UBIE 2024 General Assembly, where participants will co-create the foundations for the campaign. Be part of the conversation that drives UBI forward.
Donate to UBIE. Your contributions will help us finance the meeting, especially by covering travel and accommodation costs for participants who might otherwise not be able to attend.
