For 95 years, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society has been helping Canadians think deeply about our country, its past and present — inspiring actions that will help shape a vibrant future for Canada. And our position as a trusted, fact-based education organization has never been more relevant. Embracing technology, amplifying research, and developing new ways to discover are some of the themes of our work for 2024. Together with our members, partners, and Fellows we are redoubling our efforts to leverage the power of geography to unite Canadians, helping them to make sense of the world and make informed decisions. |

Some of the initiatives that the Society will concentrate on in the year ahead include: • The Canadian Geographic Education GeoSchool Program, which helps put current events in context for students and supports the development of new skills and competencies through in-person programming. Students explore Canada’s diverse environments, collect environmental field data, develop orienting and navigational skills, and experience Can Geo Education-created resources like giant floor maps equipped with augmented reality, opening up new lines of geographical inquiry. • Our Research and Expeditions granting programs. These programs provide critical funding to the next generation of innovators who will identify, analyze, and communicate observations on topics ranging from climate change and interprovincial trade to land treaties and endangered species. • Bringing to life important stories from every part of Canada through exceptional journalism, compelling images, and dynamic cartography at Canadian Geographic. Our editorial team continues to publish stories that provide balanced explanations of complex subjects, celebrate cultural resilience and innovation, spark curiosity and inspire hope for a better future. 2024 will be a busy year for the Society, and none of our work would be possible without the support of donors like you who believe in our mission and ability to deliver on our programs. |
